weekend and wine

This weekend:
- I found out L's "future-sister-in-law" unfriended me on Facebook
because I was critical of her pitching a fit in a restaurant because
her fiance didn't want to cover her meal. She used, and I quote, the
words, "Way to not pay for your future bride." I bit my tongue at the
time but told L later that it was pretty cringeworthy and gross. L
related this to her brother (somewhat recently) who then related it to
his fiancee. I laughed about it but L was kind of upset.
- We went to a wine festival and I found out just how unprepared I was
for the amount of drunk and loud people that exist in the world.
I also found out that I still do not like to be touched by strangers.
I was sitting alone on a small brick wall because L had gone in one
direction and New Guy in another, reading some concerning news about
another hoarding situation that had been uncovered when some strange
guy walked up, *COVERED MY PHONE SCREEN (and part of my hand) WITH HIS
HAND*, and said, "You should try talking to people." I put on my
blankest, coldest stare and looked him right in the eye after dropping
my phone hand so that his fell uselessly to his side. "Yeah, you
should try it, what's your name?" he asked. I continued to stare at
him silently until he laughed uncomfortably and walked away.
That was after some random drunk sidled up to me and told me he could
tell what kind of jerky I liked (I didn't say anything, pretended not
to hear him, and moved to New Guy's other side), and another guy sat
down at the table I was at after L and New Guy went to the bathroom
and tried to strike up a conversation (when I didn't hear him the
first time, he said, "Hey, try dropping your phone and looking
around," and then smiled when I looked up. I didn't smile, stared as
blankly as I could at him long enough to make him uncomfortable, then
looked back at my phone. He didn't try to speak to me again).
Why do people have to be so rude? What happened to "excuse me"?
Also: people don't know what to do when you stare at the for an
uncomfortable amount of time.
